Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions: We reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by minimizing energy use and promoting the use of renewable energy sources.

Efficient use of resources: We optimize our use of raw materials, energy, and water to minimize waste and conserve resources.

Waste reduction and management: We reduce waste generation and promote recycling and reuse of materials wherever feasible. We also safely manage any waste that cannot be recycled or reused.
Protection of biodiversity: We protect biodiversity by promoting responsible forest management practices, conserving natural habitats, and preventing pollution of air and water.

Continuous improvement: We continuously review and improve our environmental performance through setting environmental objectives and targets, monitoring our progress, and communicating our achievements and challenges with stakeholders.

Implementation of an environmental management system: Environmental management in NPA as a paper production company involves implementing an environmental management system (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001. An EMS provides a framework for identifying and controlling environmental impacts and for setting objectives and targets for continuous improvement.

The pulp and paper industry are the fourth largest industrial user of energy globally, accounting for approximately 6% of total industrial energy use. Recycling paper can save significant amounts of energy, water, and natural resources compared to producing new paper from virgin materials. Most of the raw materials in NPA are used from recycled. It helps to reduce waste and promote sustainability.

This means that out of the total paper and cardboard consumption in Sweden, 87% was recycled and used again to produce new products.
